Running therapy for employees of the University of Twente

Every Wednesday from 12:00 – 13:00 employees of the University of Twente can participate in Running therapy, starting from Topvorm Twente in the Sportscentre.

Running therapy is a complementary therapy to mood- and stressrelated complaints. It is suitable in case of dreariness, anxiety- and panicattacks, inexplicable physical complaints, tiredness and signs of a burn-out. Running therapy can provide a valuable addition as treatment to improve your mental and physical conditioning.



By providing a variety of movement-related tasks you will experience a state of mental relieve and relaxation. During periods of running or steady pace walking you will return from your mind to your body. During the coached running therapy sessions you will learn to recognize signs and signals that your body sends out and you will be taught to interpretate these signals to set suitable boundaries.

The running therapy will take place in a groupsetting with a maximum of eight participants. The goal is to work up to 3 to 5 independent sessions a week of a minimum of 20 minutes to a maximum of 70 minutes, which can comprise of steady paced walking, light running or an interval sessions.

During 8 weeks the running therapy sessions will be under the supervision of Renée Hof. Renée is physical therapist, running therapist and psychosomatic physical therapist in training.

Preceding the therapy sessions there will be an intake, either physical or via phone, to set your personal goals. At the end of the 8 sessions, there will be an evaluationmeeting.

Costs and coverage
